Do you remember Windows Phone? Do you miss it? If Microsoft hadn’t given up on its mobile operating system and had continued to develop it, what would the situation be like today? Considering that Microsoft keeps adding new features to Windows 11 to make it a more suitable desktop operating system, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see a mobile version of Windows Phone if the platform still existed.

A user has launched a petition on Change.org calling for the return of Windows Phone
At Change.org A user named Σπύρος Κ. launched a petition calling for the return of Windows Phone. As of this writing, the petition has garnered 4,022 signatures, and people are also sharing their stories in the comments section, explaining why they want to use Windows 11 on their phones. The petition outlines the following reasons for bringing back Windows Phone:
We’re calling on Microsoft to revive Windows Phone, a platform ahead of its time that still has a passionate fanbase.
Windows Phone offered a clean, fast, smooth and innovative experience with features like Live Tiles, deep Microsoft integration, and a bold, unique design. In a world dominated by iOS and Android, there’s room—and demand—for a third ecosystem focused on simplicity, productivity, and user choice.

The petition notes that netizens are not seeking a return to the past; after all, if Microsoft were to simply dig up old Windows Phone files and re-release them, there would be no chance of success. Instead, the petition calls on Microsoft to launch a Windows Phone operating system that is compatible with modern hardware, features a brand-new interface, and supports Microsoft 365, Copilot, and all current apps.

Currently, Change.org has listed this petition as “Awaiting a Response from Microsoft,” so we do not yet know whether Microsoft will respond to this petition, let alone accept its terms. However, if you want Microsoft to hear your voice, you can click the link at the top of this article to visit Change.org and sign the petition. Perhaps, if enough people sign it, Microsoft will rekindle its interest and relaunch Windows Phone in response to everyone’s requests—and it wouldn’t be surprising if Copilot were included as well.
