Google currently only offers two Gemini AI subscription plans: AI Pro at NT$650 per month and AI Ultra at NT$8,150 per month. The difference between them is over 12 times, with no middle-tier option. Competitors OpenAI and Anthropic both now offer mid-tier plans in the $100 range, so for some power users of Gemini AI, the lack of flexibility in choices is likely frustrating.
Finally, recent news has emerged: foreign media discovered a new “AI Ultra Lite” subscription string in the macOS Gemini app code, internally codenamed “Neon”. Since it’s called Lite, it looks like Google is about to fill in the middle subscription tier.
Additionally, foreign media also uncovered code strings related to usage limits, which appear to be for creating a practical usage dashboard that lets users see in real-time how much they’ve used.
Google may launch new ‘AI Ultra Lite’ subscription plan: positioned between Pro and Ultra
According to foreign media outlet 9to5Google, the APK Insight team discovered the string “AI Ultra Lite” in the code of the macOS Gemini app, with the internal codename labeled “Neon.” Android Authority has also confirmed this and shared screenshots for reference.

However, it should be noted that “Ultra Lite” is currently just a tentative internal codename at Google, and the name may be adjusted when it’s officially launched, so we’ll have to wait for Google’s official announcement. That said, Ultra Lite isn’t a bad name either—at a glance, it’s clear it’s a lightweight version of AI Ultra.
As for pricing, although the code didn’t reveal it, since AI Ultra Lite is expected to be a new subscription plan between AI Pro and AI Ultra, it would fall in the range of 650 to 8,150 yuan. And since both the Claude Max plan and ChatGPT Pro’s lighter plan are $100, there’s a high probability that Ultra Lite will also be priced at $100, which converts to approximately 3,100 yuan.
Compared to the original AI Ultra plan, AI Ultra Lite should theoretically inherit all features, just with lower usage limits, but that’s just speculation.

Taking them at face value, these three strings correspond to “Usage limit within 5 hours,” “Weekly usage limit,” and “Overage credit amount” respectively.
Overall, Google seems to be creating a usage dashboard page that lets subscribers clearly see how much quota they have left before hitting the 5-hour limit and the weekly limit, similar to Claude’s.
There’s no word yet on when it will launch, but foreign media outlets speculate that with Google I/O 2026 just two weeks away, AI Ultra Lite and the usage dashboard could be officially announced at the developer conference.
