AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D: Early Leak of Benchmark Results for Seven Games
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is a new gaming processor officially unveiled by AMD at its CES 2026 press conference. It features the Zen 5 architecture, with 8 cores and 16 threads, a base clock of 4.7GHz, and a maximum boost clock of 5.6GHz—400MHz higher than the previous-generation 9800X3D. Additionally, it features 104MB of cache (8MB L2 + 96MB L3, including 64MB of 3D V-Cache).
The TDP is 120W, maintaining the same power consumption and cooling requirements as the previous-generation 9800X3D. Overall, the specifications are similar to those of the 9800X3D, with the main difference being a slightly higher boost clock; as a result, people speculated at the time that there wouldn’t be much of a difference in performance.

The test platform was equipped with a GeForce RTX 5090 and ran at 1080p resolution. As can be seen, the new 9850X3D processor only slightly outperforms the 9800X3D in a few games.
The game that performed the best was *Counter-Strike 2*, which saw a 6.38% increase, rising from 775 FPS to 825 FPS. However, since the FPS is already approaching 1,000, even a 50 FPS increase is barely noticeable in terms of gameplay.
In the three games—*Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition*, *Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn*, and *Cyberpunk 2077*—the 9850X3D was approximately 3.53% to 4.95% faster.
There haven’t been any major changes to *Battlefield 6*, *Monster Hunter: Wild* and *Doom: Dark Ages*.
