The annual event of the global communications industry “Mobile World Congress” (MWC 2026) was grandly launched in Barcelona. At a critical moment when global telecom operators are facing the dual challenges of infrastructure transformation and the wave of artificial intelligence (AI), MSI, the world’s leading brand of high-performance server solutions, officially released its latest AI-vRAN (virtualized radio access network) solution at the conference (booth number 5A61). This solution deeply integrates the NVIDIA AI Aerial platform and NVIDIA MGX architecture, focusing on a “single integrated architecture” to fully support O-RAN (open radio access network), private 5G networks and virtualized RAN environments. This move not only directly introduces data center-level AI computing capabilities into the core and edge of telecom networks, but also marks that mobile network infrastructure is accelerating the technological transformation towards comprehensive AI.

MSIEnterprise Platform SolutionsXu Yanwen, general manager of the business unit, said that AI is rapidly reshaping the telecom industry. MSI is committed to helping operators create a scalable network architecture through a single integrated infrastructure to support multiple applications such as voice, data, audio and video streaming, and AI. This AI-driven vRAN architecture not only brings greater flexibility to 5G and future 6G network deployment, but also accelerates the time to market of new services.

To support the development of AI-driven telecom networks, MSI has launched a unified AI-vRAN platform to simplify the deployment process of O-RAN, private 5G and virtualized RAN environments. This integrated architecture enables operators to maintain the consistency of distributed and centralized network infrastructure while introducing AI network functions.

At this MWC exhibition, MSI focuses on displayingCG480-S6053andCG290-S3063Two platforms are specially designed for diverse AI-vRAN deployment needs. CG480-S6053 supports high-density GPU configuration, which can meet AI inference and acceleration workloads with high computing requirements; CG290-S3063, a 2U design, can take into account both space and energy efficiency, and is suitable for deployment in edge and distributed network environments. Both platforms provide flexible configuration of GPU, NIC, DPU and storage resources, helping operators optimize performance, scalability and cost efficiency under a consistent infrastructure.

In addition, the 2UCX271-S4056 platform (HE SKU)It provides balanced data processing capabilities for AI workloads and is suitable for application scenarios that value computing efficiency and system balance.

A core capability of MSI’s AI-vRAN solution is dynamic GPU resource allocation, which can flexibly adjust resource allocation between 5G communication workloads and AI workloads based on real-time needs. By supporting both base station and edge AI functions in the same infrastructure, the platform can simultaneously handle RAN and AI workloads and improve overall computing resource utilization. In addition to hardware, the platform also integrates related software to meet the system requirements of AI-vRAN, allowing AI services to run efficiently at the edge of the network.

MSI provides server configurations covering 2 to 8 scalable GPU accelerator cards to meet diverse deployment needs such as wireless access networks, urban edge, core networks and centralized cloud environments. This high degree of flexibility enables telecom operators to adjust system configurations according to different workloads while taking into account performance and operational efficiency.

MSI’s AI platform is based on the NVIDIA MGX architecture and has been widely used in AI data centers around the world, demonstrating high reliability and scalability. Now, MSI has further extended this mature and proven architecture to the telecommunications field, introducing data center-level computing design concepts to support the increasing needs of next-generation mobile networks in terms of performance, scalability and efficiency.

Summarize

The AI-vRAN solution exhibited by MSI at MWC 2026 is not only an upgrade of hardware equipment, but also a paradigm shift in telecommunications network architecture design thinking. By deeply integrating NVIDIA’s AI communication technology and modular server architecture, MSI has successfully broken the boundaries between communication and computing. This innovative architecture that integrates O-RAN, private 5G and AI edge computing on a single platform is paving the way for global telecom operators to transform their AI networks with efficiency, flexibility and future-proofing.
