Open-world RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, developed by Bethesda, remains a classic masterpiece in the eyes of many fans, even though it has been nearly 15 years since its release. The game’s biggest feature is its nearly endless support for player-made mods, and just recently, Bethesda also entered an unexpected crossover collaboration with renowned Swedish furniture brand IKEA.

As of now, players can already find an all-new companion NPC mod called “Kallax Storageborn,” created by the modding team Kinggath Creations, on the Creation mod page for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Hilariously, this NPC’s appearance is actually an IKEA “KALLAX shelving unit,” and even more astonishingly, they even specially brought in What We Do in the Shadows actor Matt Berry to voice this 4×2 unit.

This “KALLAX shelving unit” companion can help players carry a large amount of items and gear, preventing their inventory from becoming over-encumbered, and players can even summon him at any time with the exclusive dragon shout “AYE-KEY-YAH” (pronounced similar to IKEA). However, the mod’s level of completion goes far beyond that.

Besides this cabinet companion itself, which follows the player around on adventures and chatters nonstop from beginning to end, the mod team also built an entire, fully fleshed-out questline for it, even adding two brand-new IKEA-themed dungeons and a boss fight against a “Clutter Golem.” Not only that, the mod also adds extra items and equipment such as a “Dwarven L-shaped Hex Wrench,” a “Meatball Helmet,” and meatball dishes.

“At IKEA, we firmly believe in creating a better everyday life for the many people, so why not incorporate that spirit into life in the digital world as well? Skyrim has one of the largest modding communities in gaming, and we saw an opportunity to use our expertise in practical storage to make a real difference in this fantasy world,” said Kemi Anthony, an IKEA executive.

Matt Berry’s distinctive, legendary voice brings a more dramatic, richer level of polish and charm to this all-new Creation mod. By bringing Kallax to life, we hope not only to help Skyrim players more, but also to add a touch of IKEA-style whimsy, so that players who have long been driven crazy by being over-encumbered can share a knowing smile.

Notably, Matt Berry also voiced the classic villain Bane in this year’s LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and he also lent his voice to the widely acclaimed British-humored indie adventure game Thank Goodness You’re Here! As for film, the comedian will next appear in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Minecraft Movie 2, both sequels to video game adaptations.
