Apple plans to launch higher-end MacBook Ultra, new Mac Studio, iMac and Mac mini this year

This laptop is not meant to replace the existing MacBook Pro model, but to become a new ceiling among laptops. In other words, the future lineup of Mac notebooks will extend from the entry-level MacBook Neo, mid-to-high-end MacBook Pro, all the way to the top-end MacBook Ultra, creating a more complete product line. The specifications details currently reported are as follows:

  • Screen: Switch to an OLED panel. This will be the first time in the history of MacBook to be equipped with OLED. The color saturation and contrast of the picture will be greatly improved.
  • Touch screen: Supports touch operations, which is also introduced for the first time in Mac computers.
  • Design: The body will be thinner and lighter than the current MacBook Pro.
  • Processor: Expected to use Apple’s next-generation M6 chip.
  • Connectivity: In view of previous reports that MacBook may introduce 5G mobile network capabilities, it is quite reasonable for the top-end MacBook Ultra to be the first to carry it.
  • Price: Gurman compared the iPhone X and iPad Pro with the introduction of OLED. At that time, the price increased by about 20%. Therefore, it is estimated that the price of MacBook Ultra may also increase by a similar amount.

In addition to MacBook Ultra, Gurman revealed Apple’s update plans for other Mac product lines this year, such as the Mac Studio, which is expected to be updated in mid-2026. The appearance design will remain unchanged from the current version, mainly chip upgrades, equipped with M5 Max and M4 Ultra or M5 Ultra chips. Then comes the new generation of iMac, which also maintains the existing all-in-one design, but is expected to bring new color options, and the chip will be upgraded to M5.

The new Mac mini also follows the existing appearance design, and the chip is upgraded to M5 and M5 Pro versions. There is a high chance that it will not be officially launched until Apple’s autumn conference.

Therefore, for those who want to buy the highest-end MacBook, if you are not in a hurry, you can wait and see the MacBook Ultra, which may bring about comprehensive improvements. Of course, your budget may also require more.
