Xiaomi sub-brand POCO today (September 4) officially launched its next-generation flagship models, the POCO F9 Ultra and POCO F9 Pro, in Taiwan. Continuing the F series’ strong position in the performance market, the phones deliver comprehensive upgrades including a flagship dual-chip architecture, a 185Hz ultra-high refresh rate display, Sound by Bose acoustic tuning, and a massive 8,050mAh battery, targeting gamers and tech enthusiasts who demand ultimate performance. Early bird offers are available from now through September 21, with savings of up to NT$3,000.

Dual-chip flagship performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and VisionBoost D8
The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, while the F9 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chip (model SM8850-1-AB). Both feature an octa-core architecture built on TSMC’s 3nm process, placing them among the most advanced mobile computing platforms in the Android ecosystem. More importantly, both new devices come equipped with the VisionBoost D8 discrete graphics chip (12nm process), creating a third computing core alongside the CPU and GPU (flagship dual-chip architecture). This enables the F9 Ultra and F9 Pro to handle high-end game rendering (frame interpolation, HDR mapping), heavy-duty computing, and everyday multitasking with ease.

Combined with the POCO 3D IceLoop dual-loop ice-cooling system and WildBoost Engine, it can maintain a stable 185 FPS in games for extended periods without easily throttling or dropping frames.

185Hz AMOLED Display: 10000nits Peak Brightness
The display is one of the highlights of this upgrade. The POCO F9 Ultra features a 6.9-inch panel with a resolution of 2608×1200, while the F9 Pro comes with a 6.59-inch display at 2510×1156. Both models utilize POCO HyperRGB AMOLED panels, supporting up to a 185Hz screen refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. Peak brightness reaches an impressive 10,000 nits (with HBM brightness at 2,200 nits), paired with 12-bit color depth (68 billion colors), DCI-P3 wide color gamut, DC dimming, and Original Color Screen PRO technology. Whether it’s high-speed dynamic scenes in competitive gaming or screen readability under strong outdoor light, the display delivers flagship-grade processing capability. The entire series also supports Wet Touch 2.0 and Dolby Vision, and has passed TÜV Rheinland’s quadruple eye protection certification (hardware-level low blue light, flicker-free, circadian-friendly, and smart eye protection)—a major boon for gamers who play for extended periods. The front is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for enhanced everyday durability.

In terms of exterior design, the POCO F9 Ultra features dynamic lighting effects on the back panel, with personalized lights illuminating during calls, notifications, gaming, or music playback, giving it exceptionally high visual recognition. The F9 Pro’s “Aurora Green” variant marks the first use of a full-back-cover glow-in-the-dark design, which emits a soft, uniform fluorescence in darkness after being exposed to ordinary light sources. Users can also use a blue-violet laser pointer to create custom glow-in-the-dark patterns on the back cover, giving the phone a stronger sense of personalization and distinction. The Ultra weighs approximately 235g (dimensions: 163.49×77.94×8.74mm), while the Pro weighs 206g (157.49×75.25×8.79mm); both feature IP68 dust and water resistance certification.
8050mAh massive battery and 100W ultra-fast charging
Battery life is the most anticipated selling point of the POCO F9 Ultra. The Ultra is equipped with the largest battery in POCO F series history—an 8,050mAh unit—using high-energy-density silicon-carbon anode material with 16% silicon content. According to official claims, it can deliver up to 2 days of battery life, and for heavy gamers, it’s enough to power through a full day of intense matches. The F9 Pro, on the other hand, packs a 6,330mAh battery, also utilizing the same 16% high-silicon-content technology to meet all-day usage needs.

Both models fully support 100W wired ultra-fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging, and are compatible with multiple fast charging protocols such as QC2/QC3/QC3+/PD2.0/PD3.0/100W PPS, letting you quickly return to full power in no time. They also feature up to 27W wired reverse fast charging and 22.5W wireless reverse fast charging, turning them into a mobile power station for other devices at critical moments. The charging port uses USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 and supports smart charging temperature control to ensure safe long-duration charging.
Sound by Bose: 2.1-channel and game audio mode
POCO continues to deepen its collaboration with Bose, a world-leading audio brand. The entire F9 series comes equipped with Sound by Bose joint acoustic tuning, pushing the ceiling of mobile audio quality through flagship-level hardware and software integration. Among them, the F9 Ultra further adopts symmetrical stereo dual speakers paired with a dedicated subwoofer (3-microphone array), creating a 2.1-channel audio system that delivers more precise sound imaging, powerful deep bass, and a wide soundstage. The F9 Pro, on the other hand, features Bose-tuned symmetrical stereo dual speakers, presenting clear and delicate sound layering. Both models support Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res / Hi-Res Wireless dual Gold audio certifications.

Addressing the practical needs of esports players, the entire lineup features a new Game Audio Mode that enhances footstep clarity and directional perception while fully preserving battlefield environmental details such as gunfire and voice, helping players accurately identify enemy movements and gain the initiative through sound-based positioning—delivering a significant competitive advantage in FPS and battle royale games.
200-megapixel main camera and periscope telephoto lens
The POCO F9 series marks a generational leap in imaging, debuting a 200MP main camera across the lineup (f/1.68 aperture, 2µm 16-in-1 Super Pixel, 6P lens) with OIS optical image stabilization, capturing intricate detail with precision—even when heavily cropped or reframed, image quality remains sharp. The Ultra goes further with a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto lens (120mm equivalent focal length, f/3.0 aperture, OIS), covering long-range shooting scenarios; the F9 Pro, meanwhile, features a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto lens (60mm equivalent focal length, f/2.0 aperture, OIS) with a 10cm minimum focus distance, ideal for close-up macro work. For ultrawide shooting, the Ultra sports a 50MP sensor (f/2.4 aperture), while the Pro offers an 8MP sensor (f/2.25 aperture). Both models support 4K video recording and automatic focal length switching, enabling smooth, natural push-and-pull camera movements so users can effortlessly create cinematic footage without complex operations. The front camera is a 32MP selfie shooter across the board.

As for other specifications, both models feature LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, along with IP68 dust and water resistance, ultrasonic under-display fingerprint recognition, AI face unlock, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and dual SIM support (with hybrid nano SIM + eSIM). They come pre-installed with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and support Xiaomi Offline Communication and NFC.
