Recently, cracking expert Andy Nguyen (online code name: TheFlow) announced that he has officially open sourced the “PS5-Linux” project he developed. This technological breakthrough allows players to exploit system vulnerabilities and convert PS5 into a fully functional personal computer running Linux with just one USB finger, which can smoothly execute PC games on the Steam platform and various emulators.

Exploiting Hypervisor vulnerabilities to unlock hardware limitations
According to Andy Nguyen, PS5-Linux exploits a Hypervisor vulnerability to unlock hardware limitations. After successful installation, users will be able to directly use PS5’s built-in 8-core, 16-thread CPU and GPU resources with clock speeds up to 2.23GHz. With the support of powerful hardware, the system can achieve 4K 60Hz audio and video output through HDMI, and can smoothly run PC games and various high-performance emulators on the Steam platform. Currently, this project only supports the first version of the PS5 model (Phat), and has strict requirements for the system firmware version, which must be between 3.00 and 4.51. If the version is 5.00 or above, although it may be supported in the future, it can only run in virtualization mode and cannot directly access hardware performance, greatly reducing its practical value.

Installation requires only a USB flash drive
To crack, users need to prepare a USB flash drive or external SSD of at least 64GB, and use it with a USB keyboard, mouse, and a specific USB network card to operate and connect to the Internet. Technical significance is greater than practical value
