The global network speed testing company OpenSignal recently released its latestJuly 2026 Taiwan Mobile Network Experience Report】The survey period covers mobile network experience over the 90 days from April 1, 2026, to June 29, 2026. According to the OpenSignal Mobile Experience Awards, Chunghwa Telecom won 9 winner awards and 3 Joint Winner awards; Far EasTone Telecommunications received 1 Winner award and 3 Joint Winner awards; Taiwan Mobile earned 2 Winner awards and 4 Joint Winner awards.
Compared to the previous period, Chunghwa Telecom lost one Winner award. Although it still dominated in total award count, its performance was dimmer than last time. Far EasTone lost one Joint Winner award, while Taiwan Mobile gained one Winner and one Joint Winner, showing the most improvement.

1. Internet speed:
Chunghwa Telecom has won the four speed awards—download speed experience, upload speed experience, 5G download speed, and 5G upload speed—for the eighth consecutive time, far ahead of Far EasTone and Taiwan Mobile. However, 5G network speeds have shown a slight decline.
Regarding 5G download speeds, Chunghwa Telecom leads with 268.1Mbps, ahead of Far EasTone’s 182.4Mbps and Taiwan Mobile’s 168Mbps. Compared to the previous period, download speeds for all three major telecoms have declined, marking two consecutive half-year decreases. This shows that as 5G user numbers grow, all three telecoms are experiencing a gradual downward trend in 5G download speeds.
In terms of 5G upload speeds, Chunghwa Telecom leads with 38.1 Mbps, ahead of Far EasTone’s 30.2 Mbps and Taiwan Mobile’s 27 Mbps. Compared with the previous period, the 5G upload speeds of all three telecom operators rose, with Taiwan Mobile seeing the largest increase. This reflects the telecom operators’ emphasis on users’ needs for uploading photos or live streaming.
Looking at overall download speeds, Chunghwa Telecom leads at 106.1Mbps, with all three major telecoms seeing higher download speeds; for overall upload speeds, Chunghwa Telecom still leads at 17.7Mbps, and Taiwan Mobile has shown greater growth in both overall download and upload.

In terms of 5G availability (the percentage of time users have a network connection in the places they go most often), Far EasTone won again with 77.4%, beating Taiwan Mobile’s 74.3% and Chunghwa Telecom’s 74.9%. As for 5G coverage experience (representing the experience users get when traveling through areas where they can reasonably expect to find coverage), Chunghwa Telecom continued to lead with a score of 7.7, ahead of Far EasTone’s 6.9 and Taiwan Mobile’s 6.6.
In terms of overall network coverage, the overall availability (percentage of time) scores for the three operators range from 99.3 to 99.4, with little difference and roughly even results. As for the overall coverage experience, Chunghwa Telecom still claims first place with 9.3 points, while Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone each score 8.7 points.

This indicates that after the two operators gradually shut down the original Asia Pacific Telecom/Taiwan Star base stations, they have made significant progress in quality consistency. Consistency of quality is used to measure whether a network is sufficient to support common mobile application needs, with the level being “sufficient” for users to maintain (or complete) various typical tasks on their devices.
In the overall reliability experience category, Taiwan Mobile surged to first place with a substantial improvement, scoring 939 points, while Chunghwa Telecom dropped to second with 922 points.
