Taiwan Mobile receives Opensignal Global No.3 and highest honor for reliability and quality consistency!

Many people’s first move when judging whether a mobile network is good or not is still to open Speedtest and see if the download speed can produce an impressive number. However, a single speed test only reflects the conditions at that specific location and time. Whether the network suddenly drops during a commute, whether 4K videos keep buffering during evening peak hours, or whether photos can be uploaded smoothly at crowded events—these everyday experiences cannot be easily summed up by a single speed test number. On July 31, Opensignal released its latest *Taiwan Mobile Network Experience Report*. This time, Taiwan Mobile alone took first place nationwide in both “Reliability Experience” and “Consistency Quality,” and also claimed first place in four other categories: Overall Video Experience, Overall Voice Experience, 5G Voice Experience, and Network Availability, for a total of six honors. Combined with the Global Mobile Network Experience Awards announced in February this year, Taiwan Mobile ranked third globally in “4G/5G Availability.” This report focuses on whether networks can remain available and stable over extended periods, and whether various apps can complete their tasks properly.

Ranked third globally in 4G/5G online rate, measuring long-term connectivity capability.

Opensignal’s “Time on 4G/5G” metric measures the proportion of time users are actually connected to 4G or 5G networks. According to the 2026 Global Mobile Network Experience Awards, among global operators in the small land area market category, Taiwan Mobile users were connected to 4G or 5G networks 99.4% of the time, ranking third globally.

This metric directly observes how much time real users spend on 4G/5G networks, which is a different concept from theoretical coverage shown on maps or the maximum speed measured at a single location. Ranking third among operators worldwide means that network coverage and connection availability are already in the world’s top tier. For everyday users: from home, to the office, to the commute, when they take out their phones, they are less likely to run into the frustrating situation where there is a signal, but apps keep failing to connect.

Reliability and quality consistency are difficult because every step of the process must not come up short.

The “Reliability Experience” is hard to earn because it takes into account the entire process from connecting to the network all the way to completing a task. Opensignal checks whether users and devices can successfully connect to the mobile network, whether initiated tasks can be completed, and whether basic apps maintain sufficient quality of use. A network might occasionally deliver very high download speeds, but if it suddenly drops out during a team fight in a game, a video conference, or a ticket rush, the reliability score will still suffer.

“Quality consistency” tests performance across all time periods. It combines download, upload, latency, jitter, packet loss, and time-to-first-byte response to check how often the network meets the recommended thresholds for common high-demand apps. HD streaming, video calls, social media uploads, and gaming all depend on these conditions simultaneously. If download speeds are fast but latency fluctuates, video may still play smoothly, but games and video calls can still stutter.

In its latest report, Taiwan Mobile was the sole winner of these two No. 1 rankings in Taiwan, and that’s where the real value lies. It requires the network to remain stable from connection establishment and data transmission to apps completing their tasks, while spanning different times, locations, and usage scenarios. This is far more difficult than measuring an impressive speed near a base station during an off-peak time.

Taiwan Mobile Network Experience Report: Six Nationwide Honors — Two Won Outright, Four Shared

This time, Taiwan Mobile achieved a total of six firsts in the Taiwan report, with “Reliability Experience” and “Quality Consistency” ranking sole first; “Overall Video Experience,” “Overall Voice Experience,” “5G Voice Experience,” and “Network Availability” tied for first. Combined with a global third-place ranking in 4G/5G availability, it fully covers seven honor metrics including connection time, video, voice, reliability, and consistency.

This set of results is closer to everyday use than simply taking home a speed award. Watching videos requires stable throughput; voice and gaming are highly sensitive to latency and jitter; and sharing photos and videos on social media needs sufficient uplink (upload) capability. With all six metrics together, it shows that Taiwan Mobile’s network performance covers the usage requirements of multiple apps at once.

Translating these award-winning achievements into everyday consumer experience: 4G/5G connectivity rate delivers “absolute peace of mind” with reliable connections wherever you go; reliability experience corresponds to “ultimate trust” that never falters at critical moments; quality consistency is the “sense of premium freedom” that maintains the same standard around the clock.

700MHz + 900MHz dual low-frequency, two golden low-frequency bands for powerful coverage

Taiwan Mobile’s network architecture includes a combination that no other carrier has: dual low-frequency bands of 700MHz plus 900MHz. Low-frequency signals have advantages in propagation distance and building penetration, making them well-suited for hard-to-cover environments such as basements, deep indoor spaces, moving vehicles, and remote areas. The dual low bands can complement each other, giving phones more available spectrum to maintain connections as users move between different scenarios.

This is also OPENSIGNAL real-world test A crucial underlying condition for a 99.4% 4G/5G online rate is that no matter how large the network capacity is, if the signal cannot reach deep inside buildings, the app remains unusable. The 700MHz and 900MHz bands are responsible for expanding coverage range, first reducing dead zones, then handing off to mid- and high-band frequencies to deliver speed and capacity.

3.5GHz with 100MHz large bandwidth, combined with NRCA, can handle peak-hour crowds.

Taiwan Mobile has integrated 60MHz and 40MHz in the 3.5GHz golden band, giving it a combined 100MHz of 5G bandwidth, the largest in Taiwan. The larger the bandwidth, the more data it can carry at the same time, which is especially important for scenarios like concerts, ball games, shopping districts, and peak commuting where large numbers of devices connect simultaneously.

NRCA (New Radio Carrier Aggregation, 5G carrier aggregation) coordinates dispersed frequency bands to work together, distributing traffic based on live signal and network conditions. 3.5GHz provides capacity, while 700MHz and 900MHz fill in coverage and indoor penetration, allowing the network to dynamically adjust among speed, capacity, and stability. Actual speeds are still affected by whether the phone supports the corresponding NRCA bands, location, the number of concurrent users, and building obstructions—you can’t just see 100MHz and assume every situation is the same.

Awards and recognition are not as practical as users’ everyday experience.

Taiwan Mobile’s 700MHz+900MHz dual low-band, 3.5GHz 100MHz bandwidth, and NRCA handle coverage, capacity, and frequency band coordination respectively, making a noticeable difference in everyday mobile network usage for regular users. This also means that Opensignal’s rankings—third globally and six awards across Taiwan—serve to further validate the value of these accolades through real-world user experience.

Looking at these Opensignal awards through the lens of everyday smartphone use: gaming without ping spikes in a crucial match, tapping a 4K video with no waiting, and video calls that don’t drop while you’re on the move—these are where consumers truly feel mobile network speed and stability. After all, having smooth internet everywhere is far more meaningful than hitting high benchmark scores at a few spots. If you’re not satisfied with your current carrier’s daily network performance, Taiwan Mobile is well worth trying.
