Google Meet will be free until March next year

Although being in Taiwan will give people the illusion that the global epidemic has slowed down, the world still has not seen the end of the epidemic in the short term. The Google Meet video service, which was renamed at the beginning of the year and made free for Gmail users in response to the epidemic, first encountered the previously scheduled free end date of September 30. However, Google has obviously taken into account that most people still rely on such services due to the need to work/study at home or quarantine, and today officially announced that it will postpone this free policy again. Although it is free, I still hope that the epidemic will pass soon and no longer need to be extended. Continue reading the content of the report that Google Meet will be free until March next year.

Google Meet will be free until March next year

The epidemic that began at the beginning of the year has not been significantly suppressed globally in September. Google Meet, which was originally open for free for half a year in response to the surge in demand for WFH and other services during the epidemic, has only a few hours left before the previously set deadline. It has also been announced that this single live broadcast can accommodate up to 100,000 viewers and 250 participants. The free use of the video conferencing service, which originally cost $25 per month, will be extended for another six months in response to the epidemic, so that users with Gmail accounts can use it for free until March 31, 2021.

Google mentioned on its blog that in such a situation where it is difficult to meet with others in person, video conferencing has become an important tool for keeping in touch with family, colleagues, and friends. This is why in April, Google chose to make this advanced paid service fully open for free use for half a year (now it seems that it has become a year), hoping to help users more – and even adjusted the upper limit of video time for this originally commercial-oriented feature to a maximum of 24 hours. Google Meet also added support for streaming to TVs and video on Nest Hub Max during this period. It also provides special effects such as background blur and electronic whiteboard functions. At present, it seems that users who often use Google Meet to communicate can still enjoy free use until next year.
