At the heart of the controversy: Microsoft’s official Windows 11 system requirements still only require 4GB of memory. Although in reality most low-end PCs are equipped with at least 8GB, there is a clear gap between the official minimum requirements and the “16GB starting point” statement in the document. In addition, Microsoft has actively promoted Copilot+ PCs in recent years, and the minimum memory requirement for this type of AI PC is indeed 16GB.
