However, one Nintendo fan recently discovered a way to watch YouTube videos on the new handheld device, and the key to it all lies in an almost five-year-old game.
It has been nearly a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 was officially launched, but functional applications such as YouTube still have not yet appeared on the new console, and Nintendo officials have not yet issued any response to players’ relevant requests. But one player recently discovered a way to watch videos on Switch 2 without the official YouTube app, and it’s all thanks to an indie battle royale game.
According to what players have discovered, if you want to watch YouTube on Switch 2, you’ll have to head to the Nintendo eShop to download a free game called Super Animal Royale. The game was originally released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series
After the player downloads and starts “Super Animal Royale” on Switch 2, the system will ask the player to register a game account. Then, they only need to click on the content introduction in the upper right corner by sliding the ZL and ZR keys, and after entering the “Watch the Animated Series” page, select “Watch on YouTube” below. Then, they can go to the game’s official YouTube channel through the hidden browser function of the console. After that, the player can use the virtual keyboard to search for any videos they want to watch on YouTube.
It is worth noting that this method only supports up to 360p image quality, so if you want to watch high-definition YouTube videos more smoothly on Switch 2, it seems that you still have to wait until the official launch of a dedicated application.
