Introducing “Apps in ChatGPT”: Interact with Third-Party Applications Through Conversation
OpenAI’s annual DevDay event is primarily aimed at developers. In addition to announcing new technologies and APIs, it also introduced a feature that general users can use: “apps in ChatGPT.”
Simply put, this feature lets the app interact with users directly in the ChatGPT chat room, without needing to open a new browser tab.

Same with booking rooms, you can bring up Booking.com or Expedia, and then give them yourAccommodationNeed, such as: “Help me look up”Tokyo“the hotel at the station, stay dates are 11/10~11/20.” ChatGPT will then help you find relevant results. Not only that, you can continue to ask further. For example, if you are someone who places great importance on sleep quality, you can ask ChatGPT to check whether any hotel reviews have users sharing that the environment is quiet.
Usage is simple—just type @ and the app list will appear. You can also type a keyword directly, such as @Canva, and Canva will show up below:
After tapping, the app icon will be pinned to the bottom, and then you can start chatting:
The first time you use ChatGPT, it will ask to connect to certain apps, some of which require logging into your account, such as Canva—
When relevant to the conversation, ChatGPT will also suggest apps. For example, if you’re discussing buying a new house, ChatGPT might suggest the Zillow app, letting you browse listings within your budget through an interactive map in ChatGPT.
Currently supported Apps include

- Coursera: Build educational content, such as lesson plans

OpenAI also mentioned that within the next few weeks it will add AllTrails, Peloton, OpenTable, Target, theFork, and Uber, among others. Developers can also submit their own applications for review. In addition, a dedicated directory will be launched in the future so that users can browse and search.
