Google recently launched a new smart feature on Android devices: “Situational Suggestions.” The core of this function is to combine the artificial intelligence built into the device to analyze the user’s daily behavior patterns and provide operation suggestions at the appropriate time, making the mobile phone more relevant to personal needs.

This design is obviously in line with Google’s long-term vision. It is reminiscent of the previous “Magic Cue” function. Both of them try to make technology more proactively integrated into life through predictions and suggestions. The difference is that “Situational Suggestions” has been first launched on the Pixel 10 series mobile phones and is turned on by default. The purpose is to allow users to experience the convenience immediately without additional settings.
After installation and activation, the system will begin to collect the user’s operational data, including the applications used, time, location, etc. When AI accumulates enough information, it can make recommendations when it deems appropriate. For example, when you are at the gym, a music app may automatically recommend a sports playlist you often listen to; or on weekends, if you are used to projecting sports games on your living room TV, the system may remind you to project before the game starts. These small tips are intended to help users develop habits and reduce unnecessary operations in daily life.
However, such a feature also raises some concerns. Although Google emphasizes that all data collected will be stored in the local encrypted space of the phone and will not be shared with Google or others without permission, some users are still uneasy about “default turning on”. After all, data collection has always been a sensitive issue between technology companies and users. If you want to turn off this feature, you can go to “Settings >> Your Name” to find the “Situational Suggestions” option, disable it completely, and delete the saved information in “Manage Your Data”.
Currently, “Situational Suggestions” are limited to the Pixel 10 series, including Pixel 10a. Other older Pixel phones or devices running Android 17 beta are not yet supported. Although Google has not officially announced the expansion plan, it is widely speculated that this feature will gradually be extended to more devices in the future and become part of the Android ecosystem.
Overall, “Situational Suggestions” represents another attempt by Google to apply artificial intelligence. It hopes that through more accurate behavioral analysis, mobile phones will not only be passive tools, but also active partners.
