Everyone uses LINE to communicate with people every day. However, potential fraud threats appear in LINE chat rooms from time to time, making it difficult to prevent them. The LINE team also recently announced that starting from version 14.9.0 of LINE, warnings will be added to various LINE chat rooms to remind users to pay attention to potential fraud in chat rooms. These warnings will help everyone be more alert to avoid potential fraud and improve the overall user experience and security. After version 14.9.0 of LINE, warnings are added to various chat rooms to remind users to beware of potential scams.
In the past, when receiving 1-to-1 messages from unknown friends, there were no warning notes to remind users. Even though a “report” button was provided in the chat room, users still had to confirm whether the unfamiliar message might be fraudulent. However, after updating to LINE version 14.9.0, you can see the prompt “Please pay attention to potential fraud in the chat room” at the top of the chat room. In addition to 1-to-1 chat rooms, group chat rooms will also have relevant anti-fraud reminders.

Profile:
If you update to LINE version 14.9.0, a warning message will also be displayed below the other person’s profile when you are not friends with the other person.

If you click on the warning, the screen will jump to the official LINE blog page of “Anti-Phishing Promotion” to help users understand various phishing scams.

LINE community:
Since the LINE community is a channel where like-minded people can communicate with each other and share information anonymously, various phishing scams still occur from time to time in the LINE community. There are also many cases where advertisements or fraudulent messages are sent after joining the LINE community, and then they immediately leave the group.
From now on, regardless of the LINE community category, when users join a new LINE community, they will also see a new warning note at the bottom. I hope everyone will pay attention to potential fraud in chat rooms. However, everyone in the LINE community should still be particularly careful about unfamiliar links. If you have any doubts, do not click on them, and do not trust some invitation links that promote other communities within the community.

LINE official account:
In addition to 1-to-1 chat rooms, group chat rooms, and social chat rooms, now when a user joins an unfamiliar general LINE official account, a warning message will also be displayed at the bottom of the screen on the LINE official account joining screen.

LINE also hopes that these new features can help users increase their awareness of fraud and take measures to protect themselves. Here are some of LINE’s fraud prevention tips:
- Don’t click on suspicious links or attachments.
- Do not disclose personal information to strangers.
- Do not send or transfer money online.
- If you’re not sure whether something is safe, please ask LINE customer service for assistance.
