Although NVIDIA and AMD’s next-generation graphics cards should be released by the end of this year, judging from the current AI craze, the first batch should be difficult to grab. Therefore, if you find a cost-effective graphics card at this stage, it is still worth considering, especially if you are just changing to a new graphics card for playing games.

Recently, well-known foreign media announced a list of the best graphics cards at various price points. If you still don’t know which one to choose, this list is worth your reference. It ranges from entry-level, mid-range mainstream, to top-end high-end.

Foreign media announces the best GPU graphics cards at various price points, entry-level, mainstream and high-end

Well-known hardware foreign media Techspot recently announced the latest comprehensive test of the best recommended list of GPU graphics cards. They believe that the performance of current graphics cards is already very powerful, but the cost is much higher than in the past, which means that players need to pay more to buy one. Therefore, when choosing, be sure to pay attention to the price and buy if it is cheap or reasonable.

Recommended list of graphics cards at various price points

  • $100~$200: AMD Radeon RX 6600
  • $300: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
  • US$400~US$450: AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT, NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti 16GB
  • US$700 ~ US$1,000: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Super, AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT”, NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super
  • $2000: NVIDIA RTX 4090

Entry graphics card

The first is entry-level graphics cards, which sell for $100 to $200. You cannot buy the latest generation graphics cards in this range, so you need to know this.

The most recommended one is “AMD Radeon RX 6600”, which is currently priced at US$200.

Compared to the RX 6500 XT and GTX 1630, the RX 6600 is 1.7x and 3.6x more powerful respectively, but is only $60 more expensive. More importantly, the RX 6600 has 8GB of VRAM, unlike many graphics cards in this price range that only have 4GB.

Next is the Intel Arc graphics card. Arc A580 and Arc A750 are both good, especially Arc A750. The current price is similar to the RX 6600, and the performance is faster.

So why is Arc A750 not the most recommended? There are two reasons. Arc graphics cards need to be paired with a platform that supports Resizable BAR to perform better. Even though the driver has made great progress, it still occasionally encounters problems.

As for NVIDIA graphics cards, Techspot doesn’t consider any cards worth buying at this level.

Mainstream graphics card

Next is the price range that most people buy: US$300, and the selected one is “NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060”.

Techspot evaluated the RTX 4060 on about 15 games, and the average performance obtained was 91FPS, while the previously recommended RX 6600 was 71FPS, which means the RTX 4060 is 28% higher, but $100 more expensive, so in terms of CP value, the RX 6600 is better.

But if you want to buy the latest generation graphics card, then the RTX 4060 is a very good option. Although the RX 7600 can also provide similar gaming performance, the RTX 4060 is only $35 more expensive and can get DLSS support.

mid-range performance

For players who have a little more budget and want to get higher performance, the most recommended graphics cards in the US$400 to US$450 range are “Radeon RX 7700 XT” or “RTX 4060 Ti 16GB”.

Since it costs more than 400 US dollars, of course you cannot choose 8GB for the VRAM part, it must be 12GB or more. Both of these two graphics cards are suitable.

The overall performance of RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and RX 7700 XT is very similar. However, if rasterization performance is a priority, the 7700 XT is the best choice, with significant improvements in 1440p performance, such as 83 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077.

It is worth noting that 1440p DLSS quality is basically better, so it is worth spending a little more to buy an NVIDIA graphics card, depending on what you are pursuing.

In addition, the performance of AMD Radeon RX 6800 is similar to that of 7700 XT, and the VRAM is 4GB more, which is the same as the competitor’s 16GB. This is also worth considering, but the 6800 lacks AV1 encoding.

The most recommended graphics card between US$500 and US$600 is the “GeForce RTX 4070 Super”, which beats other opponents with its excellent ray tracing performance.

High-end performance

There are three selected graphics cards in the US$700 to US$1,000 range: “GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super”, “Radeon RX 7900 XT” and “GeForce RTX 4080 Super”.

Not surprisingly, the most recommended graphics card for $2,000 is the “GeForce RTX 4090”.
