According to cyber intelligence platform Cyble, the Antidote Trojan is trying to infiltrate Android devices by disguising itself as a Google Play update. The Trojan was first discovered by the company on May 6, and its success is largely due to attempts to hide its identity. Once installed on your device, it can read everything from your contacts to text messages.
When the Antidote Trojan attempts to read your Android device, you will see a fake Google Play update that prompts you to access your settings after downloading it. Fraudulent Google Play update pages have been found in multiple languages, leading experts to believe the malware is affecting multiple regions. As cyber threats continue to evolve, Google is trying to stay ahead of the curve by deploying artificial intelligence technology. At the I/O 2024 event, the company announced that Android security features will be powered by AI in the future, with a focus on Android 15 and Google Play Services.
