With the launch of OpenClaw, AI agents have grown increasingly popular this year, and the pace of development has accelerated. Even Google announced its own service at the recent I/O 2026. Although Apple is much later to the game, the arrival of the next-generation Apple Intelligence models could signal the start of accelerated AI development. According to foreign media reports, Apple may be developing an AI agent product similar to OpenClaw.

Apple Is Reportedly Challenging OpenClaw: Future AI Agents Could Operate Apps Across iPhone, iPad, and Mac for You

according to Wccftech According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple may eventually develop an AI agent similar to OpenClaw that would be able to operate software on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac for users.

Longer term, I’d also expect Apple to try to create its own OpenClaw competitor, delivering a system that could fully operate its software across iPhones, iPads and Macs on behalf of the user. https://t.co/njDB7H77eH

The new Siri AI can already converse in natural language, understand personal context, and operate across apps. If it can truly reach an agent level like OpenClaw in the future, there will be much more it can do—not just simply looking up information, but also automatically completing tasks you assign, such as organizing your schedule and saving it as a document, opening multiple apps to accomplish something, or even continuing a task across different devices.

After Apple entered the AI agent battlefield, system-level integration is arguably its greatest advantage. After all, the iPhone, iPad, and Mac are all Apple’s own platforms, and Apple also controls Apple Silicon, unified memory architecture, system permissions, iCloud, Apple One, the App Store, and other services. If it is willing to open up sufficient system capabilities, it definitely has a chance to deliver a smoother experience than third-party AI agents.

Wccftech also speculates that Apple may not turn this AI agent into a fully standalone subscription service, but could instead bundle it into Apple One or other monthly plans—meaning you wouldn’t need another subscription to use it. Of course, if that happens, subscription prices will likely be raised.

However, it’s worth noting that this is currently just a prediction. There are no actual sources indicating that Apple will launch it, and no timeline either.

OpenClaw Interface

Also, I don’t think we should get our hopes up too high. After all, Apple places great emphasis on user security and privacy, while AI agents require extensive permissions—including automatically reading and writing files, operating apps, and logging into services. If anything goes wrong, such as accidental data deletion, sending emails randomly, or credential leaks, it could turn into a very serious PR crisis.

Therefore, Apple is unlikely to loosen system permissions for AI agents unless it finds a solution that balances convenience and security. Even if such a plan exists, its rollout won’t go this smoothly.

Regardless, Apple really needs to pick up the pace on AI. It has already fallen considerably behind its competitors, and if it moves any slower, it will only become increasingly difficult to win back market share and users once competitors’ products mature and users develop lasting habits.
