It is rumored that Android is expected to support Wi-Fi + USB “fastest” mobile phone transfers, and can also restore (merge) mobile phone backups without resetting.

In addition to Quick Share (formerly Nearby Share), which functions as its name suggests, wireless fast sharing between two Android phones. If you want to transfer huge amounts of data, such as a new phone or an entire phone after resetting the system, in the past, although Android has also provided the option of using physical transmission lines for faster and more stable transmission in addition to relatively slow wireless transmission (there are also backups restored through Google One in the cloud).

But now Google has been discovered by foreign media and is preparing an interesting feature to further improve transmission efficiency – they thought of combining wired and wireless transmission methods into one (surprise!).

Foreign media Android Authority unearthed Google’s latest Data Restore Tool app, which is version 1.0.624892571 of the backup and recovery application. It was found that the relevant code of the new application “MultiTransportD2dTransport” appeared in the App.

From the description of the program code, “Copying using cable and Wi-Fi for fastest speed” further confirms that this function is basically a new function that combines Wi-Fi and transmission lines for higher-speed (or should I say “fastest”?) transmission.

According to the information in the code, Google should ask “Want to speed things up?” when performing mobile phone backup transfer, which is a prompt if you want to speed up the process.

And if Google officially builds such a function into the system, I believe it will be somewhat helpful if you are in a hurry to restore a backup (especially now that Wi-Fi specifications are becoming more and more powerful) – or is there a concept of mutual backup between connections?

This wave of foreign media also discovered that Android seems to be preparing a very interesting “Restore Anytime”, which is an interesting new feature that can restore backups at any time… Should I say flexibility? But to say this, there are actually quite a few conditions.

Because although “Restore Anytime” seems to be open, the phone can be connected to another old phone at any time to start the restore backup transfer process without having to reset it.

However, specific restrictions include that the backup source phone must be cleared after the transfer is completed. On the other hand, it is the settings in the target phone that receives the backup. If there are other choices other than the default, they will not be replaced by the settings of the backup phone.

Does the above sound complicated? In fact, the editor also thinks there is a bit of it (eh).

Personally, I am a little worried about whether there will be some errors or omissions in this kind of incomplete backup involving merging data that are difficult to find immediately. But obviously such a function should be expected to cope with the situation where the work and life machines are originally separated, but later want to be used together, right? So having such a function is quite practical. Just wait until it is officially launched (if it will be launched) and observe to see if its actual performance is stable.
