AI waits first, it was discovered that Windows 11 Notepad will import the proofing function

Although seeing that Wordpad, also a text editor, announced the end of its 28-year career in Windows last year, people can’t help but wonder whether Notepad will also face the same fate. But now it seems that the old age is still too hot. In this era where various AIs are constantly being “generated”, Notepad, the originally simple and pure text editing application, has not only not been replaced, but has also been found to be upgraded with unimaginable intelligence.

Microsoft, which has recently been committed to developing Copilot, has discovered that it seems to be preparing to make the most significant smart evolution in the history of this originally extremely simple Notepad application in the Windows 11 version – Spell check/Autocorrect.

Well, you read that right. Take this simple text editing application, before the rumored AI-related features are added. Microsoft has also provided more text format support in response to the withdrawal of Wordpad, and has also added more writing-friendly features.

That is to say, in this feature dug up by the X (former Twitter) social platform @PhantomOfEarth, Microsoft not only provides a spell check/automatic correction function switch. Unexpectedly, you can also choose whether to turn on spelling check for different formats of file files including: .txt, .md, .srt / .ass, .lrc and .lic. Although this feature seems ordinary. But this thoughtful option can also be regarded as a very thoughtful advanced option for Notepad to be used for coding.

As @PhantomOfEarth shared, it seems that this feature has not even been launched in public testing yet – he seems to have used some tricks to receive this feature early. However, judging from the completeness of the current functions (well… after all, it is not a very innovative feature XD), it is not surprising that you should see the appearance of this update project in the Windows Insiders update channel soon.

Not only has the functionality become richer, Notepad will also receive better settings and layout in the near future. Options related to appearance display, text formatting, and actions when opening Notepad will be provided with more easily distinguishable layouts. Although it feels further and further away from the extremely simple impression it originally gave people. But I believe that this will definitely be a good thing for friends who want to have a richer text editing original default application!

I wonder if you are looking forward to such an update? Or do you prefer that Microsoft can import AI functions into this application as rumored? Can you share your views with us?
