Have you changed too? The name change of “Proximity Sharing” has occurred on some Android models

AlthoughThere are already signs, but it was not until Samsung, which also uses “Quick Share”, stood up together that it officially announced at CES 2024 that it would rename the so-called “AirDrop-like” function Nearby Share to Quick Share and integrate the quick sharing function into one. However, at CES 2024, neither party has actually made a specific commitment as to when such integration will occur – there are also reports that it may fall in February.

Recently, many people have begun to report on social networking platforms. Google has already started to provide “name change” updates for Pixel phones and other non-Samsung phone brands as early as February. At the same time, users of Samsung phones have also begun to receive a new version of the “Quick Share” experience that can integrate a wider range of sharing objects.

The officially launched version this time can also be enabled from Google Play Service (the version is said to be v24.02), but it will still need to be gradually opened on the server side, so in addition to opening the update, you may still have to wait for a while.

The latest Quick Share function is officially updated. When this sharing function page is enabled, a full-screen page will pop up allowing you to confirm the name that will appear in the Quick Share list of other devices, and which devices can be shared (including your own device and other nearby devices).

For Android users of non-Samsung devices, including Pixel, in addition to the name change, you will also notice a new double-arrow logo and interface changes. The system will also pop up a notification mentioning the name change message “Nearby Share is now Quick Share”. The purpose is probably to prevent people from seeing the different names and thinking that they have some strange applications installed on their phones.

Have you received this Quick Share update? Do you think it works better or is there any difference? Can you share it with us?
