Edge for Android silently launches Extensions extension function test!
Although with emerging browsers such as Arc It has rich AI built-in and even has ad-blocking features that many users would like to have. Big brands such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge still feel relatively poor in terms of functionality.

That’s right, after digging by various experts, someone discovered that the latest version of the Android mobile application version of Microsoft’s Edge browser has added a Flag test function called “Android Extension”. You can even see the latest “Extensions” button directly in the system menu after opening it.
However, it seems that this change is not as good as everyone thought – but it is good enough.

Seeing the title “Edge for Android silently adds Extensions”, I believe that the first option many people want to install should be functions such as ad blocking to make the web page easier to read, right?
Fortunately, in the Microsoft Edge pre-release build v123 dug out this time, you can indeed see that uBlock Origin can be installed to block ads. However, at least for now, there are only three Extensions that can be installed, including this one.

I don’t know if this part is the so-called “Android Extension”. It must undergo additional official review before it can be used in mobile browsers. It is still possible for the Android version of the Edge browser to directly receive support from a large number of desktop Chrome extension app stores in the future.
But we can at least roughly know from the three Extensions currently listed: Dark Reader, uBlock Origin and Global Speed. At least on Microsoft’s side, ad-blocking extensions that are usually considered to affect advertising revenue are still within the allowed range.
It can only be said that this is still a very early browser version after all (and it still requires a Flag to be turned on additionally, and even if it is turned on, it will be marked with the word Beta). Therefore, when it comes to the actual official version, it is still unknown whether Microsoft or even Google will launch such support together.
But at least initially, there shouldn’t be too many restrictions on the type of Extension? I wonder if various AI-specific functions can be used on mobile phones through this method in the future.
