Google stated: “We continue to receive exceptionally positive feedback about AI Mode in Search, particularly its ability to handle lengthy, complex questions. We’ve seen firsthand that it’s helping people tackle difficult tasks, from product comparisons and travel planning to understanding how-to guides.” As a result, starting today, AI Mode is expanding to more than 180 new countries and regions to help more people solve complex problems. However, it currently only supports English, with Google merely previewing that more languages will be added as soon as possible.

However, note that although Taiwan is on the list, it doesn’t seem to be available yet based on my testing. After I changed my Google account language to English and went to the AI mode webpage, it shows that it hasn’t been launched in that country yet.
But when I connected to the US via VPN and refreshed the AI mode page, it worked normally, so it seems like it’s being rolled out gradually, but it could also be that my Google account hasn’t received it yet:

- Proceed to www.google.comIn the search bar, type your question, then press the “AI Mode” button below.
- Open the Google app, then tap the “AI Mode” icon on the home screen.
In addition, Google has also added a new “smart agent” feature to AI mode, similar to ChatGPT’s agent mode. The AI mode’s smart agent features Project Mariner’s real-time web browsing capability, and integrates search partners as well as Google Knowledge Graph and Google Maps, thereby enabling automatic completion of user-specified tasks.
However, for now, the only supported task is restaurant reservations. For example, you can ask for a restaurant reservation for dinner with friends, and provide your needs and preferences, such as party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine type. AI mode will search across multiple reservation platforms and websites, find restaurants that match your needs and real-time availability, and organize them into a curated list for you to choose from. Finally, it can directly link to the reservation page to help you quickly complete the final step.
Google has partnered with companies such as OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy. The smart agent feature is still in the experimental stage and is being offered first to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States.
