The sales of NVIDIA’s newly launched graphics cards are not very good, and they start to cut prices almost immediately. Everyone knows this. For those who are interested in upgrading game graphics cards, they must also wonder whether the same is true for those old graphics cards? Have prices continued to fall? Recently, foreign media TechSpot published the latest GPU price tracking report, from which we can clearly observe the current price trends of new and old graphics cards.
Come to the second half of 2023, are those old GPU graphics cards still falling in price?
Earlier, foreign media TechSpot announced the August GPU price update report, which includes both new and old graphics cards, including NVIDIA, AMD and Intel. Let’s look at NVIDIA first.
Among the new graphics cards of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series, prices have hardly changed much this month. Only the RTX 4080 has a slight price reduction, about -4%. The prices of the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB and RTX 4060 have also changed slightly, but only -3%. The rest remain the same as the recommended selling price. This part of RTX 4060 Ti 16GB is quite unexpected. I originally thought it would be the most price-cut among all, but I didn’t expect that it has stabilized now:
Next is the old graphics card that everyone is more concerned about. It is almost impossible to find a new version of RTX 3080 10GB or above on the market, so it is impossible to obtain the price changes of the previous generation of high-end graphics cards.
In the mid-to-low-end segment, the RTX 3070 has had the greatest impact, with a 14% drop last month. The MSRP is US$500, and it can now be purchased for only US$380. The RTX 3070 Ti also saw a price drop, but only by -2%. The impact of RTX 3060 Ti is also quite large. Compared with the last report, the price has dropped by 9%. Overall, the RTX 30 series has dropped in price by an average of 5%:
It can be seen that the price of RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 has dropped so much due to the impact of the launch of RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. I just didn’t expect that the RTX 30 series dropped more than the RTX 40 series. But if you think about it carefully, the larger drop is actually reasonable. After all, manufacturers also want to clear the inventory of the RTX 30 series as soon as possible.
The price change of the second-hand version of the RTX 30 series is also very small, only -3% on average, which does not mean there is a real drop:

Next is AMD. The AMD Radeon RX 7000 series currently only has three models, so TechSpot integrated Intel’s graphics cards together.
The prices of the AMD Radeon RX 7000 series have barely changed, and the RX 7900 XTX has even increased slightly by 2%. However, the three models are still relatively cheap compared to the MSRP, especially the RX 7900 XT, which is 17% cheaper. The main price drop of the Intel Arc series is the A770 16GB model, reaching -18%, and most of the others also have small drops:
The RX 6000 series has experienced ups and downs. The RX 6600 has increased by 11% this month, but this may be due to the previous decline. Compared with the MSRP recommended selling price, this model is still 39% cheaper. Both the RX 6600 XT and RX 6800 saw over 10% drops:
For the second-hand version of the RX 6000 series, most of them have experienced a small drop, up to -5%:
So overall, whether it is a new card or a second-hand card, the prices of old AMD and NVIDIA cards still have a slight price drop, but you may not feel that this price drop is too big. After all, the difference is only a single-digit dollar.
Therefore, it can be determined that the current price of GPU graphics cards has stabilized and will basically not fall much further, but it will not rise either.
