Some stores will make price adjustments after a period of time after the product is launched, but usually it is one to two quarters later. However, the extent of the adjustment usually depends on the price fluctuations in the market, the crowding out effect of new products after they are added to the market, etc. However, recently the German retailer Mindfactory apparently made an unusual move, which was to reduce the price of the MSI RTX 4060 graphics card in less than a week. Even if the magnitude is not large, it is already quite surprising.

NVIDIA RTX 4060

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card has been distributed to major channels in recent days. Many technology media or players have given poor reviews about this graphics card, and there are no signs of hot sales in terms of sales. For such a graphics card, price reduction may be the best choice.

Many 3C products will have so-called reference prices when they are released. This price is usually in the hope that the product will not be severely jacked up or reduced in price by various retailers, so that consumers can refer to the price when purchasing products. If a retailer sees something is wrong and immediately cuts the price to clear the air, it will be a bit of a slap in the face for the original manufacturer.

For example, Germany’s Mindfactory has a considerable scale in Europe, and it can easily have considerable influence by adjusting prices. Recently, the company reduced the price of MSI GeForce RTX 4060 VENTUS 2X, modifying the price to 310.39 euros. That’s a bit lower than the reference price of 329 euros. Although the difference is only about 20 euros, it is also a few hundred New Taiwan dollars.

Considering that graphics card manufacturers generally take the initiative to lower their prices, they are usually second- and third-tier brands, such as Zotac and Inno3D. The mysterious operation of Mindfactory is a bit confusing. In less than a week after its release, it is a bit deliberate to reduce the price of a graphics card from the first-tier manufacturer MSI by 20 euros.

However, NVIDIA RTX 4060 received very poor reviews when it was launched. Many players felt distrustful of NVIDIA’s price setting, and even pre-orders were not as lively as before. Retailers are naturally not stupid. Since this batch of goods is hot, it is better to lower the price and launch it as soon as possible.

There are many players who have criticized NVIDIA’s recent RTX 40 family of graphics cards. First of all, the RTX 4090 often hasBurnt power connectorIn the case of NVIDIA RTX 4060, even players who have not modified it may encounter card burn-in incidents. Then there are the specifications of NVIDIA RTX 4060 that have been chopped into pieces with two knives. All these make consumers lack confidence in the product. The relatively safer ones are probably the quasi-flagship RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070.

Player selections can also be made from Clues found in Steam hardware investigation report, there are currently almost no RTX 40 series graphics cards on the list, except for laptop graphics cards. Many players are still using GTX 1650 or RTX 3060 graphics cards. Considering the poor performance of NVIDIA RTX 4060, perhaps these popular cards can still maintain a certain degree of popularity in the second-hand market.

Of course, such a report is somewhat of a quibble. The RTX 40 series has been released not long ago. High-end cards are usually not bought by everyone, so the proportion is naturally not high. It takes time for the mid-range NVIDIA RTX 4060 to accumulate enough numbers. Unless there is still no interest after a season.

Although Mindfactory in Europe immediately lowered prices, not many have followed up on the price reduction. Most of Taiwan’s graphics cards are still within the recommended selling price range, and only a few second-tier manufacturers will launch sweet cards with prices below 10,000 yuan. But cutting prices in advance is a dangerous sign for NVIDIA. If you insist on going your own way, you may not be able to produce products that meet user preferences, and sometimes they may overturn in the market.
