Why do batteries swell and burst?

Once the battery overheats, catastrophic events can occur, leading to a domino effect, with the end result being that the battery is at risk of bursting. Temperature runaway is also more likely if your battery begins to swell due to degradation and is constricted by the laptop case, increasing internal pressure, leading to various unpleasant results. Or, after the battery swells, the laptop casing is pushed open and exposed. Although it does not burn, it will cause significant damage to the laptop itself anyway.

Method 1: Set a maximum charging limit
