Thirteen years after its first film, the epic sci-fi blockbuster “Avatar: Waterfall” directed by James Cameron made a grand debut again. With a box office of NT$740 million, it ranked seventh in the history of Taiwanese movie box office. According to statistics from the foreign media “Deadline”, this movie has become the highest net profit movie in 2022 with a global box office of US$531.7 million (approximately NT$163 billion). After igniting the “Avatar craze” for many years, this earth-shaking film officially announced today that it will be launched on Disney+ on June 7, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the ultimate charm of Pandora anytime, anywhere.
Since its global release on December 16 last year, “Avatar: Waterfall” has surpassed “Titanic” with an astonishing result of nearly 2.32 billion U.S. dollars, becoming the third runner-up at the global box office. It also made James Cameron the only director in history to have three films with a box office of more than 2 billion U.S. dollars. In addition, “Avatar: Water Path” was nominated for Best Picture, Best Art Direction, and Best Sound at the 95th Academy Awards, and won the Best Visual Effects Award for its magnificent audio-visual effects.
