Gemini 2.5 Pro first launched in March, available only to paid plan users. That plan was then quickly expanded to free users, but with a smaller gap between context windows and limits. Now, to further widen the gap between free and paid users, Google is relaxing query limits for Google AI Pro subscribers using Gemini 2.5 Pro, allowing heavy users to take greater advantage of the AI model’s upgraded reasoning, math, and source code writing capabilities.
According to foreign media 9to5Google’s reportRecently, query restrictions have made it easy for users to hit the system’s daily usage cap, sparking a wave of complaints. These complaints prompted Google to double the query limit for paid users. For reference, here’s some information: currently, free users have limited access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, while Google AI Pro users have expanded access, and users with the Google AI Ultra plan (at a $250 monthly subscription fee) have the highest level of access.
For users of the $20-per-month AI Pro plan, the daily limit for Gemini 2.5 Pro has been increased from 50 queries per day to 100. Google VP Josh Woodward wrote in an X post: “Thanks for using the model so frequently and for sending so many messages to Google.”
