NotebookLM In the future, it won’t just generate audio like podcasts — it can also use AI to turn content into videos that make it easier for users to learn. This means you can use the “watch-and-learn method” to study and understand imported articles,PDF、papers and any other content, this is really great. Google also showed it off this time; anyone interested can take a look.

NotebookLM’s Video Overviews feature is launching soon—here’s what it actually looks like.

According to foreign media TechCrunch Google’s report says NotebookLM users will soon be able to convert notes, PDFs, and other content into easy-to-understand videos (or visual briefings), and provides a preview video:

From the video, it can be seen that after converting to Video Overviews, a presenter introduces the content and key points of the document, along with image illustrations, making it easier for users to understand. The images are presumably all AI-generated. For this video, the images generated for each part are very fitting—quite impressive.

I originally thought it would be static images with explanations, but it’s actually not like that. Sometimes it cuts to animations—for example, the timeline in the image below first shows 2 million years ago, then 400,000 years ago, then 200,000 years ago, with key text descriptions for each time period underneath. The video is quite dynamic.

Beyond this short video, Google also shared on X a Google I/O 2025 Keynote walkthrough video made with NotebookLM’s Video Overviews feature — it runs over 9 minutes long. I’m not sure if Google tweaked it or if this is genuinely what it produces, but I have to say, the video lays out all the new features and products from the Keynote in a very complete and organized way. The original livestream kept jumping from one product’s new features to another product, then back again, which got a bit confusing.

IT 👏 KEEPS 👏 GOING 👏

The official release date for NotebookLM’s Video Overviews is still unclear. Google has only said it’s coming soon, but barring any surprises, it should follow the same pattern as Audio Overviews — initially supporting only English, with Chinese support still requiring a wait.

Audio Overviews was initially launched between September and October last year, but it wasn’t until the end of April this year that it opened up to Chinese and other languages, so there was about a half-year wait. Video Overviews probably won’t take that long—after all, AI is advancing so quickly, and language isn’t really a challenge for AI anyway.

Additionally, Google also announced that when creating Audio Overviews in NotebookLM, in addition to being able to choose the video length—with three options: short, default, and long—you can also tell the AI which parts to focus on:
