According to foreign media Wccftech, NVIDIA’s partners are preparing for small price cuts to clear inventory of older models of the GeForce GTX 16 and RTX 30 series.
Previous reports from Channels Analysis have shown that the current demand for mainstream graphics cards and old graphics cards is bottoming out. Representatives said that demand is likely to increase in the next few months. Although the RTX 40 series has been launched for a while, some NVIDIA partners still have a lot of old GPUs in stock, and are therefore planning to reduce prices slightly to alleviate this situation.
As for how much the price will be reduced, Chinese media MyDrivers reported that it has indeed received internal information, but don’t expect a big price reduction. The actual reduction may only be 30 to 50 yuan, which is NT$132 to 220 yuan. Wccftech believes that it will be about 10 US dollars (about NT$305), so overall it should be within 300 yuan.
Such a small drop is actually completely insignificant for older models of mid-to-high-end graphics cards. Therefore, the graphics cards that will really be saved may be entry-level graphics cards, such as GTX 1650 and GTX 1630. Judging from the inventory of several online shopping malls in Taiwan, the RTX 30 series mid-to-high-end graphics cards are sold at about the same price. Now only entry-level graphics cards are easily available, so this price reduction strategy is aimed at graphics cards in this range, which is actually quite reasonable.
At the same time, RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 are also on the way. If NVIDIA does not dare to clear out some entry-level graphics card inventory quickly, after the launch, the prices of RTX 3060 and below and the GTX 16 series will become very embarrassing, and it is likely that they will not be able to open up too much.
As for the RTX 30 series high-end graphics cards, although they are not so easy to buy now, Wccftech also added that you can still expect a price reduction of 100-150 yuan, about NT$440 ~ 660 yuan, because NVIDIA is still worried about the inventory of these old high-end graphics cards.
