As the cryptocurrency plummeted, both NVIDIA and AMD launched new generation graphics cards, and even Intel joined the battle. Compared with the previous two years, the price of GPU graphics cards has finally returned to normal, and there is no need to encounter the situation of being unable to buy them. However, although it has dropped a lot, compared with 2020, the price of graphics cards has actually nearly doubled. Recently, foreign retailers have shared relevant statistics, and what is more surprising is that AMD did not expect the price to rise even more fiercely.

Although there has been a price cut, graphics cards have nearly doubled compared to three years ago. AMD has actually increased more aggressively than NVIDIA.

a few days ago inForeign Reddit forumsSome netizens shared Mindfactory.de graphics card price statistics from German retailers, comparing NVIDIA and AMD graphics card prices in February 2020 and February 2023.

  • In 2020, the average price of NVIDIA graphics cards was 426.59 euros, about NT$13,770. After 2023, the average price became 825.2 euros, about NT$26,630, an increase of about 93.5%.
  • In 2020, the average price of an AMD graphics card was €295.25. It is about NT$9,530. After 2023, the average price will become 600.03 euros, about NT$19,360, an increase of about 103%.

Unexpectedly, in just 3 years, NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards have increased by at least 90% or more. This speed is really exaggerated, and salaries cannot keep up at all. AMD has even increased by 9.5% more than NVIDIA. However, this may be because the recommended selling price of AMD graphics cards is relatively low, so the room for growth is relatively large.

In addition, the data also mentioned that no matter which graphics card company it is, Mindfactory.de’s revenue has more than doubled in the past three years, and there are quite a few people buying graphics cards.

However, compared with the same period last year, retail stores in various countries should have regressed. China Boban Tang mentioned that in China, the sales of desktop graphics cards in January increased by 9% compared with December, but dropped by 42% compared with the same period. This is a very large decline, but this is quite normal. After all, at this time last year, the cryptocurrency had not dropped enough to make many people lose confidence, and a graphics card was still hard to find.

Foreign media Hardware.info also recently shared the latest graphics card price statistics in Europe. VIDeoCardz organized this table into English. As can be seen from the picture below, the prices of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series and RX 7900 series are becoming cheaper and cheaper, but the decline is not huge:

In the previous generation of graphics cards, AMD’s RX 6000 series has gone down and up, but the price has not changed much. NVIDIA is different. The price of RTX 3090 Ti has plummeted by 25.6%. It is speculated that the performance of RTX 4090 has been improved too much. In January, it was cheaper than RTX 3090 Ti, so no one would want to buy this one.

Prices were more reasonable in February, with the RTX 3090 Ti becoming 1,604 euros and the RTX 4090 to 1,857 euros. In addition, the RTX 3080 Ti is also quite special. It had already dropped above the MSRP price. Unexpectedly, it increased by 11.9% in a month and is now more expensive than the MSRP.

In any case, basically the price of graphics cards cannot go back to the ultra-low era before 2020. Nowadays, players need to prepare more budgets to afford new graphics cards.
