China’s Moore Threads launched the world’s first PCIe 5.0 interface graphics card “MTT S80” in November last year. Although the specifications are quite good, the single-precision floating-point computing power TFLOPS is only a little behind the RTX 3060 Ti. At that time, actual measurements showed that due to poor support, the game performance was very poor, and most of them could only play domestic games in China.

Even so, many players outside of China are still very interested in this card. Recently, someone successfully obtained it and tested it. Unexpectedly, “Armageddon” that is not on the list can also be played. This shows that Moore Threading has indeed continued to strengthen the support of the MTT S80 graphics card. However, the performance score is still very impressive, with a maximum gap of 64% compared to the Intel Arc A770.

The MTT S80 graphics card launched by China’s Moore Threads was only available in China and was only sent to Chinese technology media for actual testing. At that time, some people discovered that there were many similarities in the reviews published by these media. It looked like an official review manual was given without many details.

Recently, independent actual testing has finally appeared, allowing interested players to learn about actual usage. Recently, a Loeschzwerg_3DC shared the results of his test of the Chinese MTT S80 graphics card on Twitter. He got it on February 1 this year. The test system was equipped with an i5-10400 processor and a B560M-HDV motherboard.

It has been officially announced that MTT S80 will support dozens of games, including: “Crossfire”, “Crossfire”, “Counter-Strike”, “Diablo 3”, “League of Legends”, etc. These are the only foreign games, and most of the others are Chinese domestic games, and “Armageddon” is not on the list. However, Loeschzwerg_3DC found after actual testing that MTT S80 can now play it! Just DirectX 9 (D3D9) only:

In addition, he also used the super old 3DMark 03 and 3DMark 06 for performance benchmarking and compared it with the Intel Arc A770 graphics card. As you can see from the picture below, the performance of the MTT S80 is still very impressive, lagging behind the A770 by 35% ~ 64%. However, this result is not surprising. After all, the Arc A770 supports newer technologies:

Having said that, MTT S80 is China’s first domestic gaming graphics card after all. Such performance is actually acceptable. Moreover, based on this actual measurement, the support has been improving. In the future, there should be a chance to slowly catch up with the performance of entry-level graphics cards from AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel. However, it seems that there is still a long way to go before it can compete with mid-to-high-end graphics cards.

Moore Threads MTT S80 has a 4096 MUSA core and 16GB VRAM with a clock speed of 1.8GHz, providing 14.4 TFLOPs of computing performance. It is also the first graphics card to adopt PCIe 5.0:
