Recently, applications of AI robots and robot dogs have been increasing. Humanoid robots can now box and dance, while robot dogs can be used for deliveries. RIVR, a Swiss robotics company specializing in embodied AI, recently partnered with UK delivery company Evri to enable Evri’s delivery staff to work with RIVR’s four-wheeled robot dogs for parcel delivery. The robot dogs handle the last mile in logistics, delivering packages from delivery vehicles to recipients. RIVR stated that integrating RIVR’s robot dogs into delivery operations can improve last-mile delivery efficiency while reducing the physical demands on drivers.

Recently, Swiss robotics company RIVR announced a partnership with UK delivery firm Evri. Evri will begin deploying RIVR’s four-wheeled robots in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, using them for last-mile parcel delivery. Each Evri delivery van will be paired with a RIVR four-wheeled robot dog that works alongside the delivery driver, reducing the driver’s workload and boosting parcel throughput and efficiency. While the RIVR robot dog is out making deliveries, the driver can use that time to sort and organize the next batch of packages.
RIVR’s four-wheeled robot dog is named the “RIVR ONE,” and it is a delivery robot specifically designed by RIVR for seamless navigation through the final mile and critical last-mile routes. The RIVR ONE is trained using simulated and real-world data, allowing it to safely navigate to its destination in environments filled with pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. The RIVR ONE moves at more than twice the speed of a pedestrian, reaching a top speed of 14 kilometers per hour. Additionally, the RIVR ONE can be fully charged in just 2-3 hours, and once fully charged, it is ready to assist delivery personnel with their deliveries. It requires no scheduled breaks and has no working hour limitations.
RIVR ONE can safely carry packages, groceries, and food weighing over 30 kg, meeting the weight limits of many parcel carriers, food delivery services, and grocery purchases. Its four-wheel design enables it to overcome terrain obstacles such as stairs, quickly delivering packages from the delivery vehicle to the customer’s doorstep.

Evri says this collaboration with RIVR ONE addresses the current last-mile bottleneck in logistics. Previously, delivery drivers had to spend time carrying packages from the delivery vehicle to the customer. Now, drivers only need to drive to the delivery location and let RIVR’s four-wheeled robot dog deliver the package to the customer. This partnership reduces the physical strain on drivers, allowing them to focus their time on the complex task of better planning delivery routes and increasing their delivery volume.
