At present, Intel has only released the 13th generation Raptor Lake-S series processors. Logically speaking, the i5-13400 should not be seen until the CES 2023 event, but for some reason, some places in Asia seem to have quietly started selling this processor. Recently, actual test data has also appeared one after another. Just like other 13th generations, it does not disappoint, and is nearly 30% faster than the previous generation.

The commercial version of the Intel i5-13400, which is not yet on sale, has been tested and is 29% faster than the i5-12400.
Recently, the foreign YouTube channel JAWARA media shared a review video of Core i5-13400 vs i5-12400. In addition to revealing the specifications, it also tested several well-known benchmark software, including CINEBENCH R23 and blender. The only thing to note is that because it has not been officially released yet, not every motherboard has supported BIOS. JAWARA uses ASRock B660M PG Riptide, with DDR4-3600 memory.
Raptor Lake is suitable for the previous generation of motherboards, but normally it should be paired with the new generation of B760 motherboards.
First is the specification comparison. The i5-13400 is equipped with 10 cores (6+4) and 16 threads. Compared with the previous generation i5-12400, you can see that the i5-12400 has no E-core and all 6 cores are P-core. After adding 4 E-cores to the i5-13400, its productivity performance should be improved a lot. The maximum overclocking clock of the i5-13400’s E-core is 3.3GHz, and the TDP remains at 65W:

The first is CINEBENCH R23, and they also compare it with i5-13600K. In the single-thread part, the i5-13600K scored 1960 points, the i5-13400 scored 1786 points, and the i5-12400 scored 1692 points. The maximum overclocking clock of the i5-13400’s P-core was increased from 4.4GHz to 4.6GHz. As expected, the performance improved a little bit, increasing by about 5%:

In the multi-execution part, the gap is not surprising. The i5-13400 scored 16094 points and the i5-12400 scored 12458 points, an increase of up to 29%.
JAWARA also shared power consumption data. Although the TDP of the two models is the same, the i5-13400 has more cores and performance, but also has higher power consumption:
