When the Intel Arc graphics card was first launched, there were reports that the driver was not yet in place, which meant that it was still unable to achieve full performance. However, as a few months have passed, the driver problems have improved a lot. More and more people are choosing Arc graphics cards, and the CP value is not bad. When there is better news, the Intel team continues to improve the driver support. Recently it was announced that in the latest version of Driver 3953, DX9 game performance is better. For those who are playing DX9 For players of the game, it must be updated.

Performance improved again! Arc GPU’s latest driver improves performance by up to 1.8x for DX9 games

Recently, Intel announced the launch of a new driver version, Driver 3953, on the official Arc graphics card website, which mainly improves DirectX 9 games. Players only need to upgrade to the latest version to get better game performance when playing DX9 games.

Some players may want to say, aren’t DX9 games already old? How could Intel optimize for such an old game? As you can see from the article, it should be mainly for the game CS:GO, which is still very popular. Moreover, this game is also one of the projects of the world-renowned e-sports event Intel Extreme Master (IEM). It cannot be justified that the support of our own graphics card is not good:

Intel has compared the performance difference between the previous version of Driver 3490 and the new version of Driver 3953. The graphics card used is Intel Arc A770. A total of 6 games were tested, including “Star Wars”, “StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty”, “CS:GO”, “Guild Wars 2”, “Payday 2” and “League of Legends”. The image quality settings were 1080p High and 1440p Ultra.

As you can see from the picture below, among the six games, “CS:GO” and “League of Legends” have the most obvious improvements. Intel also emphasized that “CS:GO” has reached 2 times. If you play this game and happen to have an Arc A770 graphics card, then update the driver quickly. The improvement will definitely make you feel:

However, there is not much difference between the two games “Guild Wars 2” and “Payday 2”, and the improvement is only a little bit.

Converted into multiples, there is at least a 1.03 times improvement:

Additionally, this Intel DX9 update also optimizes the 1% percentile of slowest FPS. According to Inte, the new version has increased by 2.3 times, which means that FPS has become more stable and the game should be smoother.

It should be noted that Intel has not yet removed the DX12 / DX9 conversion layer, which means that some games will use the DX9 API, and some games will use older methods, so not every DX9 game will receive improvements

The DirectX9 upgrade of the latest driver is not only applicable to the desktop version of Alchemist GPU, but also supports the mobile version, so notebook users can also obtain better game performance by upgrading the driver.
