Google Search adds profile pages for sites and creators to help shape their presence in search results

Google announced new Search Profiles, giving website owners, publishers and content creators a new way to more proactively shape how they appear in Google searches. The concept of this feature is a bit like a personal page on a social platform, but Google positions it as an exclusive space that is cross-platform integrated, shareable, and can centrally display creator information, making it easier for users to find the latest content and official information from the source when searching.

On mobile devices, search profiles can be accessed through a variety of portals: including the creator or publisher’s knowledge panel, Discover feed (click on the name above the cover image), or directly entering a unique URL. After entering, users will see an integrated personal page that includes website links, social platform accounts, and other information that the creator wishes to make public.

The presentation of search profiles has also been redesigned. The “pinned” carousel at the top of the page will prioritize short videos from Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, allowing creators to present the latest or most important content in a more attractive way. In addition, there is a “Latest Posts” section at the bottom of the page, which displays articles, updates or other cross-platform content in a grid format, allowing users to quickly understand the creator’s recent developments.

Google also once again emphasized the role of the “Follow on Google” button. When a user clicks to follow a creator, content from that source will have a greater chance of appearing in Discover, forming a lightweight subscription relationship. This mechanism has existed in the past, but search profiles make tracking more meaningful and more visible to users.

Currently, search profiles are first available to publishers and creators with a large following on at least one major social or video platform. Those who qualify can claim their own profile and make a range of customizations, including avatars, introductions, website links, social accounts, video platforms, and other content they wish to highlight. Google also explained two important changes after claiming:

  • Claiming may trigger the creation of a new knowledge panel, allowing qualified creators to obtain more complete official information cards.
  • If the creator already has a knowledge panel, Google will enhance it with an updated avatar, latest content, and profile links to make it more consistent and complete in search results.

Google said that search profiles are still under continuous development, and more features will be added in the coming months to allow creators to more fully manage their appearance in search. This feature will be launched first in the United States and will be gradually expanded to more regions around the world to benefit more publishers and content creators.
