The trade war between China and the United States has continued to intensify in recent years, and the United States has continuously introduced relevant policies to restrict Chinese companies. This has also caused China to accelerate the development of its domestic semiconductor industry. Although processors are still far away, the same cannot be said for graphics cards. Recently, Moore Threads, a Chinese company, released a new graphics card that can compete with the RTX 3060 Ti. The price is also quite cheap.

Chinese company launches a graphics card that rivals the RTX 3060 Ti at half the price
China’s Moore Threads was only established in October 2020, so it is very new. Even so, the recently released MTT S80 graphics card seems to have slowly caught up with NVIDIA and AMD.

This latest MTT S80 graphics card is equipped with its own Chunxiao graphics chip, with 4,096 stream processors, 128 Tensor cores, and 256 texture units, with a clock speed of 1.80GHz. It is also equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, with a transfer rate of 14 GT/s, using a 256-bit interface, and a maximum bandwidth of 448GB/s:

In terms of performance, MTT S80 can provide a performance of up to 14.4 FP32 TLFOPS, which is only slightly lower than the 16.2 FP32 TFLOPS of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. This part is very eye-catching, but unfortunately, the official does not provide any running score comparison data. The representative said that whether the actual game is really so powerful, it needs to be tested to know.

One thing to note is that after all, it is a new graphics card. Even if the performance is good, the support is still far lower than that of major manufacturers such as NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. Moore Thread said that DirectX support is still in its infancy. Initially, it will only support 20 games, including: “Decisive Hour”, “Cross Fire”, “Counter-Strike”, “Diablo 3”, “League of Legends”, etc., so don’t have too many expectations for this card for the time being. To put it simply, the current MTT S80 is not suitable for playing games.

In addition, Moore Thread is currently working closely with developers of Unity and Unreal Engine to ensure the compatibility and performance of these two engines. Seeing this, it is not difficult to imagine that there should be many problems during actual testing. The compatibility alone may be quite miserable.
However, the MTT S80 can handle AV1, H.264 and H.265 image decoding, provides 3 DisplayPort 1.4 and 1 HDMI 2.1 image interface, and is currently the world’s first consumer graphics card equipped with a PCIe 5.0×16 interface.

After deducting the motherboard of 1,029 yuan, this graphics card is about 1,970 yuan, about NT$8,700, which is quite cheap.
It seems that not every motherboard supports:
