Although YouTube has long supported the selection of “not interested” or “do not recommend this channel” through the “…” submenu after the channel on the homepage, thereby reducing the frequency of recommendation of related content and even the channel. However, in the search function, even if you no longer like the channel, as long as the video has the following keywords, it will still appear in the results list – at least this is my experience XD. Unless you specifically enter the channel, select “Block User” to get rid of it once and for all.
Regarding this situation, some foreign media discovered that if you use the exploration function in the Google app, you can quickly block a specific YouTube channel – I wonder if the YouTube app will follow suit to bring a similar quick menu function.
In the YouTube content recommendation options in the Google app exploration function of the Android version (v13.36.10.26), in addition to “Not interested”, it has begun to push the option of “Don’t show” the content or even specific channels. Once selected, the channel and content are basically blocked – and can also be blocked for individual videos. As for how to unblock it, it seems from the menu options that it should be handled through “Manage your interests (Manager your interests)”.

Personally, I think that rather than opening YouTube directly to browse audio and video content, I might prefer to view the content on this platform through Google search. Hopefully in the future YouTube can offer this experience directly. I believe that such a more in-depth “preference” should be of great reference value to the algorithm, right? But speaking of it, even the “dislike” button count has been removed. Such a positive platform must be a little hesitant about this direction.
