For those who are learning Japanese, want to improve their Japanese skills, or who like Japanese culture, they will definitely want to get more exposure to Japanese information. This article will recommend a very useful free app: “Japanese Radio – Japanese Corner Listening and Speaking Practice”, which is available in iOS and Android versions. It provides a lot of Japanese radio resources and podcasts. You can find a lot of interesting content, and even communicate with other users and share their daily Japanese learning.

  • Click here to download from Play Store
  • Click here to download from App Store

After entering the “Japanese Radio – Japanese Corner Listening and Speaking Practice” App homepage, you will see three categories, Language Learning, Podcast and Radio:

Open the menu on the left to find the complete category. Below there are some well-known Japanese channels, such as NHK, Kyoto Broadcasting, Bunka Broadcasting, MBS, etc. This app has Chinese, so don’t worry if you don’t understand English. You can adjust it by going to settings. The following will also tell you where:

The picture below is the classification of Talk in Podcast. There are many programs. Swipe right to find more. There are various themes, such as comedy, current affairs, chat, women’s topics, life style, etc. For friends with basic Japanese skills, you should be able to find a lot of content you like:

NHK’s exclusive category, there are many courses to learn, especially “Easy Japanese”, which is taught in Chinese. For those who have just started learning Japanese, or who have not yet laid a good foundation, it will be much easier than other pure Japanese radio stations:

There is also a TV option, currently there are only three. Clicking it will jump to the website of the program you clicked:

The Podcast part can be downloaded for offline listening. Click the cloud icon on the right to start downloading, which is pretty good:

After clicking, it will start playing:

There is also a built-in timer function, which means you can listen to it before going to bed. After setting the time, it will automatically stop playing when the time is up, so you don’t have to get up to turn it off:

Click Find at the bottom to see which other users are currently online, nearby, and popular. There are men and women of all ages. This is the first time I have seen a Japanese radio app with this kind of community function. It is quite helpful for learning. You can make some friends who are also learning Japanese or are interested in Japan. After entering the user’s internal page, in addition to viewing relevant information, there is also the function of adding friends:

In Blogs, you can browse the latest updates shared by other users, but after a quick look, most of them just share moods and photos:

For those who want to change to a Chinese interface, click Settings at the bottom right, enter General Settings, and you will see the Language option, which provides English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. It will switch immediately after selection:

In addition, when I used it, I encountered that some channels seemed to be unable to play normally. I am not sure whether it is just temporary or broken.
