ChatGPT paid users, take note! OpenAI is reportedly set to make major changes to its quota policy; starting in December, chat and Codex may share quotas.

Compared with Claude, OpenAI separates the usage quotas for ChatGPT chat and Codex, and this has long been one of the incentives for ChatGPT users to keep subscribing—I’m one of them. When using ChatGPT chat, I never worry about affecting my Codex quota; I can ask as much as I want. But this perk may disappear in December. Recently, someone overseas found explanatory text in the ChatGPT web version’s checkout flow that has not yet been made public, saying that starting in December, usage for ChatGPT and Codex plans will share the same cap. In other words, the more you chat, the less Codex quota you may have. However, OpenAI has not yet officially announced this adjustment.
