Although the official version of YouTube App for iOS does not support background playback, the App Store can now say that more and more third-party apps can implement this function, as we introduced earlierparty bunny、MixerBox, the same goes for DownTube, which I will introduce in this article, but compared to the two mentioned above, it is simpler to use, the interface is not so complicated, and it supports the playlist function. If you are looking for a simple and easy-to-use YouTube music background playing iOS app, then this is a good choice. There is no Android version yet.
DownTube App Introduction
DownTube currently does not support the Chinese language, but don’t worry too much, the interface design is very simple. After opening the app, the homepage will display popular lists, such as global charts, Spotify playlists, award-winning music, etc.:
However, the music lists here are all foreign or global rankings, and there are almost no Chinese songs. Therefore, if you want to listen to Chinese songs, it is easier to search for songs directly:

What is very special is that after this app jumps back to the home screen, the music will continue to play without stopping, but this app will not be displayed in either the iOS control center or the lock screen, which means that if you want to pause or skip to the next piece of music, you must open the app:
However, when this app is currently playing in the background, it seems that after one song is played, it will not continue to the next song. You have to open the app and manually click to continue playing. I am not sure if this is just me.

In the settings options, you can also set a sleep timer. If you want to use this app to listen to music while sleeping, just set the time in advance, and the playback will automatically stop when the time is up. You don’t have to get up to pause it manually:
