The battery replacement cost for the iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max has gone up again! Compared with 5 years ago, the increase has doubled.

When buying a new iPhone, many people care about the price of a battery replacement later on. After all, with today’s iPhones, after two or three years of continuous use, battery health may drop below 80%. Whether it’s because raw material prices have risen too much or for some other reason, battery replacements for new iPhones are now getting more and more expensive.

Earlier, Apple officially announced the battery replacement price for the iPhone 18 Pro series. The price has gone up again, with the official website quote now NT$4,490. This means it’s not just the iPhone 18 Pro that has become more expensive—if you want to replace the battery later, you’ll also have to pay more. For reference, the official website quote for battery replacement for the iPhone 13 Pro, released in 2021, was NT$2,050, more than double the price.

Battery replacement for the iPhone 18 Pro series costs NT$4,490, the most expensive ever, while five years ago the iPhone 13 Pro was only NT$2,050.

Apple’s Taiwan official website has announced out-of-warranty repair estimates for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Without AppleCare+, battery repair service for both models is NT$4,490, NT$340 more than last year’s NT$4,150 for the iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max, making it the most expensive iPhone battery replacement ever.

As for why the price went up this time, Apple didn’t specifically explain. However, the battery capacities of the iPhone 18 Pro series did all increase, with the iPhone 18 Pro Max seeing an especially notable increase.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max has a battery capacity of 5,391 mAh this time, an 11.7% increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 4,823 mAh.

The iPhone 18 Pro, by contrast, has 4,056 mAh, only 1.7% more than the iPhone 17 Pro’s 3,988 mAh.

Interestingly, these two models are priced the same, but the Pro’s battery is only slightly bigger, yet you pay the same as for the Pro Max.

As for the other repair items, Apple didn’t make any adjustments this time.

When the iPhone 13 series first launched, Apple Taiwan’s official website listed the out-of-warranty battery repair price for the entire lineup from iPhone X to iPhone 13 at NT$2,050, with the Pro and standard models priced the same.

After that, the price of battery replacement kept rising.

The first was the iPhone 14 series in September 2022, which rose to NT$3,190—NT$1,140 more than the 13 series at once, a 56% increase.

The second time was March 1, 2023, and it applied to older iPhones. In early January, Apple had already announced on its official website that “the out-of-warranty battery repair fees for all iPhone models prior to iPhone 14 will increase by NT$800.”

The third time was in September 2023 with the iPhone 15 series; battery repair for the entire lineup was NT$3,350, and at the same time Apple slightly raised the price of battery repairs for older models again, by about 5%.

The fourth time was the iPhone 16 Pro in September 2024. With this generation, Apple separated battery repair fees for the Pro and standard models for the first time: the iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max costs NT$4,150, NT$800 more than the NT$3,350 for the 16 / 16 Plus.
