Intel and AMD’s current top-tier laptop processors max out at 24 threads and 32 threads, respectively, but surprisingly, a Chinese manufacturer has now jumped straight to 64 threads. Sugon recently unveiled the N50 Pro workstation laptop, which it claims is the world’s first mobile workstation equipped with 64 threads. It also comes with up to 128GB of memory, 8TB of storage, 16GB of dedicated graphics memory, and a 4K 120Hz display—quite a premium spec sheet. What’s more, it weighs in at just 1.69 kg, making it even lighter than typical thin-and-light gaming laptops.

Dawning N50 Pro beats Intel and AMD by fitting 64 threads into a laptop! But CPU and GPU models are all kept under wraps.
According to a report from foreign media outlet WccftechSugon recently unveiled a brand-new workstation laptop, the N50 Pro, calling it a “thread beast” and the world’s first laptop equipped with a 64-thread processor. It isn’t aimed at general office users or gamers, but rather at professional workloads such as fluid simulation, 3D rendering, CAD, program compilation, scientific computing, and on-device AI.

Seeing the figure of 64 threads is quite startling—not only is it double the 32 threads of AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, it’s also far higher than the 24 threads of Intel’s latest HX flagship Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus. However, this is just on threads; Sugon hasn’t disclosed the N50 Pro’s physical core count, processor model, cache, power consumption, or memory bandwidth details, so you can’t simply interpret more than double the threads as double the performance.
Foreign media Wccftech believes that the N50 Pro may adopt the newer Hygon C86-5G series, and another clue is that it may support SMT4, meaning each physical core can handle four threads simultaneously. Based on this architecture, 16 physical cores could provide 64 threads, without needing to cram 32 cores into a laptop. So if this is indeed the case, the core count would be lower than Intel’s and AMD’s.
Official promotional data shows that when executing a typical computational fluid dynamics project with a capacity exceeding 40GB, the N50 Pro can reduce the original processing time from 2.4 hours to approximately 1 hour, cutting wait time by about 58%.

However, just as before, it didn’t share which software was used, what hardware it was compared against, or whether the two tests used the same settings. So this result of shortening from 2.4 hours to 1 hour can only be taken as a reference for now, and it can’t be compared with AMD or Intel either.
Beyond the CPU specs being barely disclosed, the GPU is the same. So far, it has only been revealed that the N50 Pro is equipped with a discrete GPU featuring 16GB of dedicated video memory and a frequency of up to 3.3GHz; no manufacturer, architecture, compute units, power consumption, or memory type has been announced.Notebookcheck It is speculated that the GPU may come from domestic Chinese suppliers such as Innosilicon, Moore Threads, Jingjia Micro, or Xiangdixian, among others. However, no publicly available product currently fully matches the specifications announced for the N50 Pro.

Sugon also demonstrated the N50 Pro running a 35B MoE model locally, with generation speeds exceeding 50 tokens per second. Of course, the model name, quantization precision, context length, input content, inference framework, and whether the workload was handled by the GPU, CPU, or both were also not specified.
According to the official introduction, the N50 Pro is only 16.9mm thick and weighs as little as 1.69 kg, yet it supports up to 128GB of expandable memory and 8TB of storage. The screen features 4K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 93% screen-to-body ratio, and a rated color difference of ΔE<1, targeting imaging and design work that demands color accuracy:

In terms of connectivity, the device has a total of nine ports, supporting multi-display 4K output and 10Gbps-class data transfer, and features a hidden port design, aiming to let users carry one fewer adapter when going out. However, the full port configuration has not been officially listed yet; based on images, Wccftech has identified two USB-C ports, three USB-A ports, HDMI, and a 3.5mm audio jack:

As of now, Sugon has not yet announced the N50 Pro’s processor and GPU models, battery capacity, full specifications, pricing, official release date, or sales regions.
