Google has officially released a significant update for Gemini Live, integrating the highly acclaimed Deep Research feature into the voice experience. Starting today, all Gemini app users can launch full research tasks via voice commands and view the system-generated research report afterward.
Gemini Live Gets Major Upgrade, Expanding Deep Research to Voice Interaction
The deep research feature has long been one of Gemini’s core capabilities. Unlike typical chatbots that provide brief answers instantly, Gemini proactively searches and analyzes multiple information sources, follows relevant leads, and finally compiles everything into a complete report with cited sources. Although the entire process may take a few minutes, users don’t need to stay in the app waiting—once the research is complete, the system automatically sends a notification.

In recent years, major AI platforms have rolled out their own deep research tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
