For people who cook regularly, there are always times when you run out of ideas and don’t know what to make, and now AI The tool is very convenient—you can get more inspiration just by asking. But if you think it’s still a bit difficult to ask on your own, this article introduces a very effortless free AI recipe tool called “8Dishes.ME”, created by Gemini AI-driven: after you select the cuisine you’re interested in and the occasion it’s for, the AI will give you 8 recommended dishes. It not only generates the required ingredients and cooking steps but also includes illustrative images, so you can know what the dish will look like after cooking (of course, whether it’s accurate remains to be seen).

8Dishes.ME Free AI Recipe Tool Introduction and Operation Guide

8Dishes.ME is an AI recipe generation tool. Simply select a cuisine (such as Chinese or Japanese) and a dining occasion (such as quick dinner or a couple’s date), and the AI generates eight creative dish suggestions. Click any dish to get a detailed ingredient list, cooking steps, and an AI-generated food image. It also offers personal recipe collection, import/export, image download, and text copy features.

Main features

  • AI Smart Generation: Automatically generates 8 creative dish names and complete recipes based on the user’s selected cuisine and occasion.
  • Recipe image generation: Leveraging AI image generation capabilities to create realistic, beautifully plated reference images for each dish.
  • Personalized recipe library: Save favorite recipes locally, and support importing/exporting .8dishes files for easy backup and sharing.
  • Multi-functional export: Provides the ability to download complete illustrated recipes as images, and also supports one-click copying of plain text content.

Go to

After clicking the link above to enter 8Dishes.ME, choose your preferred cuisine, including Chinese, Italian, Japanese, French, Thai, Mexican, Indian, Spanish, Korean, Greek, Vietnamese, and German. The occasions are also quite diverse, from quick dinners, friend gatherings, romantic dates, healthy light meals, holiday feasts, family dinners, weekend brunches, special celebrations, picnic food, comfort food, vegetarian feasts, to baking time:

I chose Chinese + quick dinner, then pressed generate below, and Gemini produced 8 dishes, like mine were “Golden Shrimp Egg Fried Rice,” “Sauce-Blasted Tri-Color Pepper Chicken Strips,” “Garlic Pork Mince with Jade Beans,” “Home-style Mapo Tofu,” and more:

Once you pick a dish you’re interested in, Gemini will start generating the ingredients, cooking steps, and images for it. I have to say, the generated images look incredibly realistic and appetizing — this is Nano Banana living up to its name.

Scroll down on the right side and you’ll see the cooking steps, with each step telling you exactly what to do. If you like it and want to save it, you can press “Download image version” on the left. Copying the text will only include the ingredients and cooking steps, no images.

The image version looks like this, with all the information included:

Also, note that when generating non-Chinese menus, the dish names might be hard to understand. For example, the image below is Japanese cuisine, and many of the names are quite strange:

Then just click into the page and look at the picture, and you’ll know what kind of dish it is:

Some might really be AI creative dishes. I asked ChatGPT and couldn’t find this dish in real life, but given the ingredients and cooking steps, ChatGPT said it could indeed make a dish similar to the picture:
